The Battle of Verdun (1916) was one of the most significant battles of the First World War. It was the longest and one of the bloodiest battles of the entire conflict, lasting for nearly ten months and resulting in over 700,000 casualties. The battle was fought between the German and French armies, and it was a major turning point in the war.
