The collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was a major event in European history that marked the end of one of the continent's largest and most powerful empires. The Austro-Hungarian Empire was a multi-ethnic empire that was formed in 1867 and comprised of territories in central Europe, including what are now Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and parts of modern-day Italy, Romania, Ukraine, and Serbia.
