This week Lena & Ge sit down with Bella Simon, who was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis at 16 and at 20 required a liver transplant in order to live. Bella generously shares what it was like to be chronically ill as a late teen, what it meant for friendships and firsts, what waiting for a life saving liver transplant felt like and how it has shaped the direction of her career. We certainly learnt a lot from Bella and we hope you do too. If you are not already we would encourage you to become a registered organ donor (more info below) and discuss your wishes with your loved ones. It might just save a life. If you want to skip ahead of our fluff (you will miss out of passata chat) you can skip to 10.52 ☺️
You can become a registered organ donor (in Australia) by visiting the Services Australia Website and following the instructions and you can donate blood or plasma by following the instructions at Red Cross Lifeblood Australia and finding your nearest donor centre.
