In the wake of the death of George Floyd and countless others, protesters have taken to the streets to protest police brutality. In the wake of all of these events, tempers are high and NFL athletes are speaking out on the movement. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, that includes Drew Brees, who spoke out stating "I would never agree with disrespecting the flag" in response to protesting in the form of kneeling, like Kaepernick did years ago to protest police brutality. In a time that we need to come together, there is still misunderstanding and such a big division. We need to understand that yes, kneeling during the anthem could be viewed to some as disrespecting the flag, but those same people fighting for the flag, must also join the fight against police brutality. To address the action and not focus on the message, leaves no room for progress.
