We had a phone conversation with Rui, a RMT from London, Ontario about a controversial Facebook post he made which seemed to have triggered some other therapists. Rui has over a decade of experience in fitness as a career and has done a lot of courses and certifications to understand exercise physiology. He decided to become a RMT more recently and realized that what we are taught in Massage School with regards to remedial exercise is a very small fraction of what there is to learn and understand about fitness. He wanted to reach out to fellow RMTs to advise them to use caution when prescribing exercises that are more complex than what was taught in school. As happens with texting and social media, his tone or intent seemed to have not been interpreted and he got some heat for it!
