A cocktail as old as time...well time in America. But when you are American that is the only time that matters, yeehaw! Melody and Bugbee look at a rare but classic cocktail, the Sazerac. Unfortunately the word "Sazerac" sounded better on the tongue than the drink tasted, at least the one Bugbee made. It is all worth it in the name of science, comedy and drinking.

Sazerac Recipe:

  • 1 ½ oz Whiskey or Cognac
  • ¼ oz Absinthe
  • 1 sugar cube
  • 3 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
  • Lemon Peel (for garnish)

Preparation (According to the IBA):

Rinse a chilled old fashioned glass with the absinthe, add crushed ice, and set it aside. Stir the remaining ingredients over ice and set it aside. Discard the ice and any excess absinthe from the prepared glass, and strain the drink into the glass. Add the lemon peel for garnish.
