On April 16th, 1983, news emerged that Reading FC would be merged with Oxford United to a form a new club called Thames Valley Royals, that would play their home games in Didcot. Former Reading player Roger Smee was drafted in to block the merger and succeeded. We look back at how events unfolded with some of the Reading fans who remember what happened.
