Susan was among the first women in the country to become a journey-level electrician in union construction, and for four decades she has endeavored to understand, frame, convey and advance issues of tradeswomen. Her Cornell books include two published this year - the 20th anniversary edition of her book We’ll Call You If We Need You: Experiences of Women Working Construction, and the poetry collection entitled Stanley’s Girl. She is also the author of the 1998 collection of poetry - Pioneering: Poems from the Construction Site.
