Give Black, part 10: Chelsie Kryst and Dr. William Tate
Chelsie Kryst graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from the Honors College at the University of South Carolina and earned both her law degree and MBA from Wake Forest University. She was crowned Miss USA in May 2019, and was the third woman from North Carolina to win the competition.
Dr. William “Bill” Tate is the first Black provost of the University of South Carolina. He came to South Carolina from Washington University in St. Louis, where he served as the dean of the graduate school and vice provost for graduate education.
The Give Black Podcast-a-Thon was originally recorded during a 12-hour event streamed live on Aug. 28 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Give Black benefitted USC’s One Creed, One Carolina campaign, which supports initiatives that elevate and encourage Black students, faculty and staff. Together, our 5 hosts and over 20 guests helped raise more than $10,000 for the campaign over 12 hours.
