Kamala Harris was an exotic luxury amongst the hoi polloi of Pacific Heights.  On the arm of her much older and powerful paramour, the future mayor, Willie Brown, Harris was introduced to SF's old money families who adopted her as their rising star.  Harris was a fixture in society columns, particularly The Nob Hill Gazette, where she was photographed amongst the daughters (and sons) of The City's most elite families.

It was there, in the swank sitting rooms and lounges of the upper one percent, that she launched her bid to become DA.  She would win that position and then go onto attorney general, state senator and finally wind up in the white house as vice-president.
