Carissa Yap was crowned Miss Universe Singapore 2022 on 17 October and what a journey it has been for the 22-year-old who is in the final year of her undergraduate degree at The National University of Singapore.

Like most undergraduates who build their resumes before entering the workforce, Carissa has interned at major companies like Citibank, Singapore Exchange (SGX) and PwC.

Adrian Abraham speaks to Carissa about how important her mum has been during this journey, what it means to represent Singapore at the Miss Universe Pageant in New Orleans and why she wants to help the underbanked community.
