I recently had the opportunity to talk with Verda Byrd Author of "70 Years of Blackness". In 1947 Verda was adopted by a young black couple, Ray and Edwinna Wagner. At age 10 the Wagners, told Verda she was adopted. What Verda didn’t realize and later discovered is she was actually born by the name of Jeanette Beagle to parents Earl and Daisy Beagle who were WHITE!
