Country music and the influences surrounding it, like the rural farming communities, the church, the Friday night lights and the sports, the drinking and the blue collar lifestyles have not been as progressive or as openly welcoming towards the LGBT communities as they possibly could have been.

However, scratch a little deeper beneath the surface and you will find both major label artist support and a progressively more vocal acceptance from both artists and writers alike.
