This week, we’re keeping an eye on Election Day and what recent global gatherings revealed about our political world:
- Today was Election Day for many states, with results promising to inform key clues towards how to prepare for 2024 in a post-Trump world. In some key elections, democracy advocates are already eying how new voter suppression laws are unfolding.
- Gerrymandering maps across the country continue to be finalized, with a redistricting commission in Ohio even purposefully missing deadlines to send the process back to the state legislature.
- Global progress was made at both the G20 summit and COP26, where leaders agreed on a new global minimum tax, the world’s most aggressive attempt yet to stop companies from sheltering profits and tax havens.
- Reproductive rights remain at the center of our political debates and elections to come after the Supreme Court fast-tracked arguments on the Texas Fetal Heartbeat Bill.
