This week, we’re keeping an eye on Election Day and what recent global gatherings revealed about our political world:

  1. Today was Election Day for many states, with results promising to inform key clues towards how to prepare for 2024 in a post-Trump world. In some key elections, democracy advocates are already eying how new voter suppression laws are unfolding.
  2. Gerrymandering maps across the country continue to be finalized, with a redistricting commission in Ohio even purposefully missing deadlines to send the process back to the state legislature.
  3. Global progress was made at both the G20 summit and COP26, where leaders agreed on a new global minimum tax, the world’s most aggressive attempt yet to stop companies from sheltering profits and tax havens.
  4. Reproductive rights remain at the center of our political debates and elections to come after the Supreme Court fast-tracked arguments on the Texas Fetal Heartbeat Bill.
