He is the Associate Director for the Department of Animal Care and Technologies at Arizona State University where he has worked for over 25 years. He has founded and established several businesses including the Red Mountain Conservation and Education Center since 2002, and the USDA licensed exotic animal pet store, WildSide Pets, from 2007 to 2022, and co-founder of the Phoenix Reptile Expo with partner Drew Rheinhardt.James' involvement within the animal industry is rooted in his lifelong passion for animals, which includes working with a wide range of species from tortoises to warthogs.Episode notes
